Katie approaches teaching the harp through the musical traditions of Ireland and Scotland, devoting lesson time to developing solid technique, ear-training, playing with and without written music, and building confidence as a musician. Her passion is for the tunes and culture of ancient and modern Ireland and Scotland and she approaches the music as part of a greater cultural and linguistic whole.

“Katie teaches with a gentle encouraging manner which clearly conveys her love of playing the harp.  Her firm command of instrumental technique, music theory, and Celtic style provides a solid basis for developing good habits from the very beginning.  I especially appreciate that my daughter was taught to play the harp both by ear and from written music at every lesson. This gave her the skill to create her own arrangements and play those of others.   Thank you, Katie!”
